ARMovie



ARMovie is a RISC OS native video format which is occasionally used for sound-only storage. PlayIt can play the soundtrack for such files whether or not video data is also present.

ARMovie has the rather nasty feature of being being able to specify a sound format using a named codec which makes the job of a 3rd party player like PlayIt more difficult. PlayIt recognises the following codec names and can play them:

msadpcm 4-bit Microsoft ADPCM (little endian)
adpcm 4-bit IMA ADPCM (little endian)
lin16bes 16-bit signed linear (big-endian)
lin16be 16-bit unsigned linear (big-endian)
alaw 8-bit A-law
mulaw 8-bit µ-law
